133 accused held with over Rs 10 million last month, claims police
The city police claimed to have detained 133 accused of 53 gangs involved in different crimes and recovered more than Rs 10 million from their possession during the month of October 2016. Spokesman of DIG Operations said here Friday that police have also detained 784 proclaimed offenders (POs) and Court Absconders (COs) while 133 cases had also been traced against them.
Meanwhile, 290 cases had also been registered for having illicit weapons. The spokesman said that the police recovered two kalashinkov, eight rifles, 18 guns, 230 revolvers and pistols, three carbines, 2,283 bullets and six daggers from their possession.
"In its drive against the drug peddlers, the police had arrested 533 culprits while 522 cases were registered and recovered 8kg heroine, 234kg chars, 1kg opium and 3175 bottles of local and foreign liquor from their custody," he claimed. He said 106 cases were registered against 401 gamblers who were detained for betting on different matches though an amount of more than Rs 500,000 were also recovered from their possession.
