Merkel will meet Wen and Hu in Beijing on Thursday before addressing the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on "finance and currency issues," Steffen Seibert told a regular briefing here.
Wen will then accompany her on a trip to the southern province of Guangzhou where they will visit a firm, participate in an economic forum and meet German and Chinese business leaders, Seibert added.
Germany and China are the world's top two exporters and have vibrant trade links.
According to the latest data available from the German statistics office, Germany imported 77 billion euros ($101 billion) -- 10 percent of its total imports -- from China in 2010 and exported 53 billion euros, six percent of exports.
