DG IB's term extended by one year

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday extended Director General of Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan's term in office by one year. Following the extension, the contract of Aftab Sultan will now end on April 2, 2016.
The senior Police officer Sultan was appointed as DG IB in June 2013. This was second time that he was hired for same post. Previously, Sultan had served as DG of the Intelligence Bureau in 2011. He also served as inspector general of the Punjab Police during the caretaker government and was tasked with the fair policing of the general elections.
