Member Central Executive Committee PML-N and Former MNA Sahibzada Shabbir Hassan Ansari has urged the federal government to provide a grant of Rs 20 billion as a special package for the reconstruction of roads, streets and other development works in Hyderabad. He said this while addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club on Monday.
"Once Hyderabad city was known as Paris in the Sindh but now it gave a look of ruins alike Moin-Jo-Daro despite huge funds allocated during last seven years by the PPP-led government in the province," he said. He said that roads and streets had been destroyed and the sewerage system had collapsed, resultantly the citizens had to face difficulties while passing through them. Such huge amount released for development projects and maintenance of streets and roads had been embezzled allegedly by corrupt officials, he said.
The sewerage water is seen overflowing the streets and roads in the Hyderabad turning the whole city into stinking pond but HDA department did not bother to address the issue, he lamented. Besides, a hospital established for children at Praitabad was in deteriorating condition where the medicines and other basic facilities were not being provided to children whenever they visited, he added. They appealed to the federal government to address such issues in Hyderabad by announcing special package for Hyderabad.
