Chaudhry Nisar gets jeep as election symbol
Former Interior Minister and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Chaudhry Nisar was allotted the electoral symbol of jeep by Returning Officer on Saturday.
The disgruntled PML-N leader, who is contesting the general elections as an independent candidate, had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan for the 'jeep', local media reported.
Returning Officer Shabrez Akhtar Raja allotted the requested symbol to Nisar. The former minister will be contesting the upcoming election from NA-63, NA-59 and Provincial Assembly's PP-10 and PP-12 constituency.
Meanwhile, PML-N has also fielded candidates to contest polls against Nisar. The PML-N awarded tickets to Raja Qamarul Islam, Sardar Mumtaz Khan and Faisal Qayyum Malik, who will face-off Nisar in their respective constituencies.
The ECP will be announcing the final candidates list contesting the general elections and also allot the electoral symbols. After which political parties and independent candidates will officially launch their election campaign. Pakistan will be holding its general elections on July 25.
