LHC adjourns hearing against Nawaz, Khaqan till Sept 10
LAHORE: A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned hearing of a petition seeking strict action against former prime ministers Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi till September 10 after the latter requested for adjourning the matter till the general election.
The bench, headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, heard the petition, filed by Amina Malik seeking action against Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for trying to defame the state institutions, through alleged anti-state interviews, and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for not honouring his oath of office by disclosing minutes of the National Security Committee meeting to his party leader.
At the outset of hearing, Shahid Khaqan appeared before the bench and submitted that he did not receive any notice. He submitted that he came to Lahore High Court in connection with another case and got information about the matter. He requested the bench to adjourn the proceedings till the general election.
At this, the bench accepting his request adjourned the matter till September 10. The bench again issued notices to Nawaz Sharif and others in the matter.
