At least eight people were killed due to stampede at the gate of Qasim Bagh Stadium after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) rally in Multan. A large number of participants of the rally rushed towards the Hussain Agahi gate to leave the venue, when PTI Chief Imran Khan concluded his speech at the rally, which led to stampede at the gate.
As a result, two people died on the spot while over 40 other were injured, who were shifted to Nishtar Medical Hospital. Later, five of the injured died at the hospital during treatment. CPO Multan Sultan Chaudhry said that mismanagement of the rally's organisers led to stampede. Director Emergency Nishtar Hospital Dr Pervaiz Haider told this scribe that about seventeen participants of the public gathering suffered critical injuries in the stampede and were shifted to Nishtar hospital. Meanwhile, PTI leaders and officials reached the hospital and inquired after the health of injured workers being treated there.
