Musharraf given time until tomorrow to appear before SC
The Supreme Court (SC) has given former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf until June 14 (Thursday) to present himself before the court.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, heading a three-member bench, gave Musharraf until tomorrow afternoon to appear before the court.
During the hearing the CJP said, "The SC is not bound to comply to Musharraf's terms". The CJP asked why was Musharraf afraid to return to Pakistan and added that Musharraf should come to court if he is a commando, local media reported.
SC orders NADRA to unblock Musharraf’s NIC, passport
On June 11, the SC had ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to unblock Musharraf’s national identity card (NIC) and passport. The SC had also summoned the former military ruler to court on June 13 (today) and assured him that he will not be arrested.
The apex court had earlier allowed Musharraf to file nomination papers to contest in the coming general elections on the condition that Musharraf would come to Pakistan to attend court hearing.
The top court is hearing Musharraf's appeal against the Peshawar High Court's verdict in disqualifying him in 2013. Court proceedings are in process regarding the case of imposition of extra-constitutional emergency by Musharraf in 2007.
