Shehbaz Sharif decides not to contest elections from Karachi
Former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has retracted his decision of contesting in the upcoming elections from Karachi.
According to local media reports, the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz president has decided not to contest elections from Karachi and instead from Lahore.
Sharif had initially announced that he will be filing nomination papers for three constituencies of Karachi. Before he changed his decision, the PML-N president was going to file nomination papers for NA-248, NA-249 and NA-250 in Karachi.
Meanwhile, other PML-N leaders have already submitted their nomination papers. Sharif's niece and ousted Prime Minister's daughter Maryam Nawaz will be contesting from Lahore NA- 127. Former Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif has submitted nomination papers for NA-73, Sialkot-II constituency.
On the other hand, PML-N senior member and former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will be contesting as an independent candidate. He has submitted nomination papers for two National Assembly and as well as two Punjab Assembly seats.
