Youm e Shahdat e Ali observed with all solemnity in Karachi
KARACHI: Youm e Shahadat e Ali (RA) was observed with due solemnity and sanctity here on Wednesday with several processions taken out by the mourners from different parts of the metropolis joining the traditional gathering at Nishtar Park.
The large sized procession comprising some 15,000 to 20,000 mourners, including people of all age groups, from all parts of Karachi attended the majlis addressed by Allama Salman Turabi.
Following the majlis at Nishtar Park they marked the beginning of the traditional route, offering in between Zohrain prayers on Numaish intersection and passing through old Saddar and M. A. Jinnah Road.
The procession culminated peacefully and in a most organized manner at Imam Bargah in Kharadar, old city area.
Provided a security cover by some 4244 cops no mishap or any untoward incident was reported to have been experienced by the mourners, said a spokesman of Karachi administration.
Special arrangements had also been made for people attending majalis at imambarghas and mosques across the metropolis including 40 declared to be sensitive.
Meanwhile, alternate arrangements were made for the commuters, usually taking the M. A. Jinnah Road route to and from their respective work places.
Traffic diverted to Shahrah e Faisal and connecting intersections did witness jam at certain points but were gradually streamlined amidst sizable presence of traffic police.
