Hong Kong shares end 0.57pc higher

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 109.04 points to 19,204.42 on turnover of HK$53.05 billion ($6.80 billion).

Chinese shares fell 1.34 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was down 30.43 points at 2,244.58 on turnover of 64.0 billion yuan ($10.1 billion).

The benchmark index closed 3.75 percent higher for this week, after gaining more than 5.0 percent over the first two sessions on remarks from Premier Wen Jiabao and another top official on boosting sluggish market sentiment.
