Continuity of democracy brought political, economic stability

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum Thursday said continuity of constitutional democracy had always brought political and economic stability in the country.

By the grace of Almighty Allah, the PML-N democratic government was going to complete its five years of constitutional tenure, he said talking to news channel.

He said the nation does not want dictatorship in the country because their regimes did not work for the development, introduced draconian laws and broken the constitution through amendments.

The senator said the democratic government had launched welfare projects, strengthened the national economy and institutions as the PML-N government had executed number of development projects including China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said, ”We had stabled the economy, overcame power load shedding and eliminated menace of terrorism from the country, adding that around 12, 000 Megawatt was added in national grid as the performance of our government in energy sector was unprecedented and exceptional”

Abdul Qayyum said Grass Domestic Product (GDP) was 2.8 percent in 2013 when PML-N government came into power but it now enhanced up to 5.8 percent. The tax collection and tax GDP also enhanced due to prudent policies of the present government, he added.

He said that he was satisfied with the performance of the PML-N government and expressed hope that we would win the next general elections with thumping majority due to performance.

To a query, he said India was involved in proxy war against Pakistan as captured of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadev was ample proof of the fact.
