President signs bill, officially merges FATA with KP
President Mamnoon Hussain signed on Thursday the 25th constitutional amendment bill seeking to merge Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The president signed the bill and congratulated the people of FATA and KP. He expressed his hope that the merger would lead to stability and development in the region, local media reported.
The signing ceremony was attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister Barrister Zafarullah, KP Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua.
A day ago, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani had signed and forwarded the Bill allowing merger FATA with KP. The bill was earlier approved by parliament as well as the KP Assembly, after which Senate received the Bill from the Ministry of Law and Justice.
