PM addresses his last National Assembly session
As the ruling government's tenure ends tonight, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi addressed on Thursday his final National Assembly's (NA) session as he will step down from his position soon.
Addressing the NA, the PM praised and thanked the NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah for their behavior and leadership in the past five years in the assembly.
Lauding the services done by his party, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz, the PM started listing his party's achievements in the past five years. Speaking about Karachi, PM Abbasi said that the port city was flourishing again and the crimes have been eradicated with just street crimes remaining.
Meanwhile, NA speaker Sadiq also delivered his last speech and expressed satisfaction at the house. "The assembly's performance was very prominent," he said.
During the last session, which is currently underway, shields were distributed among parliamentary leaders and appreciation certificates for all members of the House.
The NA will dissolve tonight after which the caretaker setup will assume its role and oversee the general election, which are scheduled to be held on July 25.
