LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday inaugurated CT scan machine and mobile diagnostic unit at DHQ Hospital, Rajanpur.

Immediately after the inauguration, he inspected the CT scan section where he was briefed about its functioning.

Talking on the occasion, the chief minister said CT scan machines were being installed in different districts of the province with an amount of Rs 1.20 billion. "The installation, working arrangements and payment of salaries of the staff will be borne out by the company. The CT scan tests will be conducted free of cost in DHQ hospitals and the fee will be paid by the Punjab government. The patients will be provided round-the-clock CT scan test facility in case of emergency." he added.

The chief minister inaugurated the revamping projects of the hospital which had been completed at a cost of Rs 24.60 crore. He inspected different sections including OPD, gynae-ward, cold storage facility and burn and dental health units.

Later, talking to media, the chief minister said important steps had been taken by the Punjab government for improving the healthcare facilities. As a result of these steps, people were benefiting from quality healthcare facilities along with the availability of free medicines.

The chief minister said serving southern Punjab was the pivot of PML-N's politics, adding that wonderful steps had been taken for the development of different southern districts by the PML-N government.

Development projects had been completed with a cost of billions of rupees in southern Punjab and more funds had been provided as compared to the population size, he said. "We have provided 42 percent to 45 percent resources to 31 percent population of southern Punjab. The development works have been done speedily despite facing different challenges. Pakistan belongs to all of us and we have to develop it with collective efforts," said Shehbaz Sharif.

The chief minister said, "Medical college and technical university will be set up in Rajanpur if an opportunity is accorded by Allah Almighty again and these projects will be completed in a time span of one and a half years."

He said the PML-N government had worked day and night for the elimination of energy crisis and 5000 megawatt electricity had been generated during the last five years by the Punjab government and this electricity was included in the national grid so that the whole of Pakistan could benefit from it.

Replying to questions, the chief minister said nominated caretaker Prime Minister and Chief Minister enjoyed good repute with regard to honesty and impartiality. "It is hoped that the upcoming elections will be held according to the public aspirations and in a transparent manner," he added.
