The city police on Thursday foiled a possible terrorist plot when it recovered over 2kg explosives in an under-construction building during a search operation at the mausoleum of Bari Imam. On a tip-off, police personnel carried out the search operation at the mausoleum of Bari Imam and recovered explosives inside an under-construction building located near the tomb of Shah Abdul Latif Kazmi commonly known as Bari Imam.
A police official said that soon after getting the information, police and bomb disposal squad (BDS) rushed to the area and checked the area and recovered explosive material weighting over 2kg. Wires were found connected with the bomb, he said, adding the police took the explosives into their custody and started investigation. He said the BDS searched the whole area and later declared it clear.
