Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak and opposition leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman have mutually agreed to appoint Manzoor Afridi as the caretaker CM.

According to local media reports, sources have revealed that Khattak and Rehman consented to appoint Manzoor as the caretaker CM until a new one is elected after general elections. Manzoor's name was suggested by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman (PTI) Imran Khan. An official announcement regarding the appointment will be made later.

Manzoor is the brother of PTI's Senator Ayub Afridi and uncle of Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi. Manzoor will take up his position as the temporary CM of KP after the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz completes its tenure at the end of this month.
