PM Abbasi, Khursheed Shah still indecisive over caretaker premier’s name
As the duo could not decide on the name of the caretaker prime minister, opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah and Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be holding another meeting on Tuesday.
The duo held a meeting today to decide over the caretaker prime minister. Speaking to the media after the meeting, the opposition leader said that he and PM Abbasi still have to decide over the caretaker prime minister as they could not reach to a conclusion regarding the name.
Shah further said that as PM Abbasi was leaving the country, the meeting will be held on Tuesday. He hoped that the government and opposition would agree on appointing a consensus caretaker prime minister.
The new caretaker will be taking over after the ruling Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's government completes its tenure this month. The caretaker government will take over to hold general elections, which will likely be held in July or first week of August.
