PESHAWAR: Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hikmat Khalil Karazai called on Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) in the Parliament and discussed Pak-Afghan relationship and new framework of peace and bilateral engagement which has become operational since Monday.

Both the sides hoped that they would contribute in promoting peace in the region, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.

Sherpao, who is also the Convener of Pak Afghan Friendship Group said that this initiative of Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) would help in creating cordial relationship between both the countries.

He emphasized that dialogue must be pursued at all levels so as to dispel mistrust between the two countries. Joint economic cooperation is a necessary ingredient, which should be pursued, he added.

He said the recent agreement and action taken by Pakistan to reduce duty on import of fruit etc. would help in boosting trade between the two countries.

Sherpao hoped that when the situation in Afghanistan would improve, the Afghan Refugees in Pakistan would return to their country.
