PM Abbasi reiterates support for Nawaz in National Assembly
Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday has reiterated that Nawaz Sharif's statements regarding Mumbai attacks in 2008 were incorrect and were no were near to what had actually happened.
Speaking in the National Assembly today, PM Abbasi said that Sharif had made no remarks about Pakistanis being involved in the hotel attack at Mumbai. He said that those who wanted political point scoring should not put the country's national security at stake.
He added that Sharif's remarks were misreported by Indian media and one should not believe them and should immediately dismiss them. He insisted that they will never let Pakistan be used against any other country, which has been the policy since forever.
PM Abbasi contended that those opponent political parties who wanted to file treason cases and wanted a commission formed to probe into the issue should form the commission. He said,"If they [ political parties] wanted to use this controversy for political scoring they should continue but it would only lead to harm the country."
Recently, Sharif has once again come under much criticism and this time he did not criticize the judiciary. Sharif has been called a traitor for his remarks he made during an interview.
In an interview to a newspaper on Saturday, Sharif said, “Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?” He asked for the explanation as to why the trial regarding it has not been completed.
