The National Security Committee (NSC) concluded on Monday its meeting regarding deposed Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s ‘misleading media statement' about the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the session, which included Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Zubair Mahmood Hayat. Other top civil officials of the government were also part of the meeting.

During the meeting, the committee unanimously rejected  and condemned the statement of Sharif. The committee further observed that India was responsible to probe into the Mumbai attacks and not Pakistan.

The meeting had been called to discuss the statements made by Sharif in an interview. “NSC meeting suggested to PM Abbasi to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident. [The meeting is] being held tomorrow [Monday] morning,” wrote the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor in a tweet on Sunday.
