Khurram Dastgir handed over additional portfolio of foreign ministry
Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir was handed on Friday the additional portfolio of foreign ministry, after Khawaja Asif was disqualified from the position.
Dastgir was given the post of defence minister in August 2017 and has also served as the minister for commerce from 2014 to 2017. Dastgir will serve the ministries until the end of the government's tenure, which will conclude later this month.
The foreign ministry had been vacated after the disqualification of former minister Khawaja Asif on April 26. The former minister was ousted by Islamabad High Court for not disclosing his employment in a UAE company.
The defence minister studied engineering from California Institute of Technology and economics from Bowdoin College. In 2008 he was elected into the National Assembly.
