Pakistan’s top order batsman Imam ul Haq, would be making his debut in a historic Test match against Ireland. Playing his first Test the youngster is indeed ‘nervous’ but is ready for the task ahead.

"This will be my first Test match and I won't be lying if I said that I will be very nervous. Playing Test cricket for my country has always been my dream and that time has come. As a sportsman, you are always under pressure whether it’s the first or last game but am confident that I have prepared well," said Imam while talking to press ahead of Pakistan clash with Ireland.

Talking about match between Pakistan and Ireland during the 2007 World Cup, the youngster said it was sad day for Pakistan as the Men in Green lost to the cricketing minnows. However, Imam said he was happy as India lost to Bangladesh on the same day.

"The 2007 World Cup game between Pakistan and Ireland was a great day for Ireland but a sad one for Pakistan. On the same day India lost to Bangladesh so we were happy," said Imam.

The youngster was of the view that performing well against Ireland would prove crucial later against England. However, there is pressure on the ‘new guys’ as conditions are tough, but the team has the skills to take on the challenge.

"There is pressure on the new guys in Tests but they have already played some international cricket and they have that confidence, spark and energy; our management is backing us too. It is tough to come and play in conditions which are different from the sub-continent but we have been working hard for the past 1.5 months," he said.

Pakistan will play against Ireland, which will be their first-ever Test against Pakistan, from May 11 to May 15 in Dublin. Pakistan will then play two Tests against England at Lord’s from May 24 to May 28 and Headingley from June 1 to June 5.
