Fakhar Zaman in awe of Mickey Arthur’s firm approach
Praising head coach Mickey Arthur over his uncompromising approach, Pakistan’s hard-hitting opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has said that the credit for team’s recent success goes to Arthur. “I have been playing cricket at various levels for about ten years and I have yet to work under the guidance of a head coach like Arthur who looks after his players so well,” said Zaman, quoted PakPassion. Zaman, who made a name for himself after his impressive century against arch rivals India at the finals of Champions Trophy and played a pivotal role in his side success, was of the view that Arthur does not offer any compromise on the players' commitment for the team. “He has zero percent tolerance for that as he believes that if one wishes to play for the Pakistan team, they need to be a hundred percent committed to all aspects of the game, regardless of it being fielding, batting or bowling. For Arthur, there is no effort below hundred percent which a player should be giving for the team.” “I feel that the credit for the excellent performances of youngsters in our current team belongs solely to Arthur…. If it was up to me, I would like to play my whole career with Arthur as my coach,” added Zaman. Zaman, would be making his Test debut as Pakistan will play against Ireland, which will be their first-ever Test against Pakistan from May 11 to May 15 in Dublin. Pakistan will then play two Tests against England at Lord’s from May 24 to May 28 and Headingley from June 1 to June 5.
