Iftikhar blasts Ahmed Shehzad’s men at Pakistan Cup run fest
Sindh started off their Pakistan Cup 2018 campaign with a bang after beating Ahmed Shehzad’s Balochistan by 12 runs runs at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. For Sindh, Iftikhar Ahmed and skipper Umar Amin blasted 116 and 102 runs, respectively, taking their side to a mammoth target of 366 runs in 50 overs. Iftikhar, who scored a blistering knock of 116 off 83 deliveries, including nine boundaries and six maximums was awarded the Man of the Match award for his performance. The domestic One Day International tournament has seen massive scores on the board and has been a nightmare for the bowlers. However, Sindh fast bowler Junaid Khan proved his mettle picking up four wickets for 55 runs in his eight overs, as the entire Balochistan batting line collapsed on 354 runs with four deliveries to spare. The late fightback from all rounder Anwar Ali, who scored 58 off 54 deliveries, could not take his side over the line. Speaking at the post match presentation, Balochistan captain blamed his bowlers for the loss and said, “Our bowling is not up to the mark, no matter what conditions are on offer.” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will take on Punjab today (Saturday) at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium.
