As the day nears for the much awaited opening of the new Islamabad International Airport, people are wondering what the name of the largest airport of Pakistan will be, as the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is yet to announce an official name.

While opposition leader and Senator Sherry Rehman wants government not to change the airport's name and keep it Benazir Bhutto International Airport, there are three other names that have been reportedly suggested for Islamabad’s new airport.

The three suggested names are of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan and Gandhara, the name of the land and its associated civilisation where the airport is built.

Meanwhile, Twitteratis are divided on the issue with and have taken it upon themselves to suggest a name for the airport. While many want the airport to be named after Pakistan's first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan, others are hoping the government will name it after late social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi.

The new airport is set to be operational from May 3. Earlier, the airport was going to be inaugurated on April 20 but days before the ceremony, the date was postponed by the governement.
