ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad Wednesday granted one-day exemption to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan from appearance and fixed May 4 to announce the judgment in SSP Asmatullah Junejo torture case.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjamand asked Imran Khan to ensure his presence on next date of hearing and warned of issuance of his arrest warrants otherwise. He observed that the court would announce the verdict in the presence of the accused.

The judgment in the case pertaining to torture on Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Junejo during the PTI's sit-in in 2014 , which was reserved on April 10, was due to be announced Tuesday. However, it could not be announced by the court due to the absence of PTI chief.

The court also extended the interim bail of PTI leaders Shaukat Yousafzai and Aleem Khan in the case pertaining to attack on the PTV and Parliament buildings for 15 days.
