About 3,300 acres pomegranate was being cultivated in the region. Muzaffargarh is at top with cultivation of 1,250 acres. Similarly, Multan district is on the second position with 1,150 acres.

According to Agriculture Department Spokesperson Naveed Asmat Kohloon, the pomegranate is also being cultivated in DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Luralai, Qalat, and Dera Ismail Khan. He informed that the secretary had constituted a special committee to look after the disease attack on pomegranate orchards.

Secretary Agriculture Muhammad Mehmood, in a statement issued here, stressed farmers to pay immense focus on high value agriculture. He added the Punjab government was taking much interest in promotion of mangoes, dates, and pomegranate.
