The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended on Monday one year imprisonment sentence given to Additional district and sessions Judge (ADSJ) Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife Maheen in Tayyaba torture case.

Justice Athar Minallah and JusticeMiangul Hassan Aurangzeb announced the suspension of the verdict given by Justice Aamer Farooq, in which he had sentenced the judge and his spouse to one-year imprisonment.

The bench then adjourned the court proceedings till the second week of May, local media reported. On April 20, the judge and his wife challenged IHC’s verdict and had requested high court to form a divisional bench to hear their appeal.

Tayyaba was 10 years old when news surfaced two years back of her being tortured by her employers. In 2016, people in outrage demanded justice after pictures of Tayyaba became viral on social media. The pictures showed her bruised face and torture marks.
