The Hang Seng Index jumped 1.40 percent, or 424.19 points, to 30,708.44 after four straight losses.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.84 percent, or 25.98 points, to 3,117.38 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, put on 0.60 percent, or 10.80 points, to 1,814.64.
