Gender Guardian school opens its door for transgender community

The country's first school for the transgender community in Lahore officially opened its doors for transgenders on Sunday.

The school has more than 30 students enrolled till now. The school is expected to soon start conducting classes for all enrolled students of the transgender community. The opening ceremony of the school was held at Gaddafi Stadium's Alhamra Open Air Theatre, local media reported.

Named 'The Gender Guardian', the school is the first of its kind in the country and an initiative by an non-governmental organisation (NGO) called Exploring Future Foundation (EFF). This project is the first one by the NGO.

The school has no age limit and offers academic education of 12 years from primary level to secondary level. It also offers intermediate education.

For the students who have shown interest in different fields, The Gender Guardian will provide them graphic designing, culinary skills and fashion designing education.
