Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has feared a loss of billions of dollars to the exchequer in coming years due to incompetence and non-professional approach of decision-makers at Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javed was talking to a group of exporters and exhibitors led by PIAF Executive Committee Member Zafar Mehmood here at his office. He said TDAP's failure to initiate processing for the world's largest trade show for agricultural machinery and services. Agritechnica 2013-scheduled for November 12 to November 16, 2013 in Hanover, Germany, is likely to keep Pakistani exporters away from this important international event.
The PIAF Chairman said that Agritechnica was the most important exhibition as in 2012 it was participated by more than 400,000 international Agricultural equipment manufacturers and experts from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, the UK, Denmark, Ireland, France and Italy as well as 18,000 from Central and Eastern Europe.
Javed said that Agritechnica-2013 is the forum where Industrialists, manufacturers, scientists, farmers, contractors and dealers get an opportunity to meet and discover the last innovations and leading technologies of the agricultural machinery industry. He said that the international exposure and global expertise always play a crucial role for innovations in agricultural machinery and equipment and are the driving force behind the strength gained by Pakistan manufacturing sector.
But, he said that it was very unfortunate that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan had made no contact since April last with the leading Pakistani exhibitors used to participate in Agritechnica in the yester years despite the fact that the exhibition is just two and a half months away. Javed said that during this two and a half month period, it is impossible for prospective exhibitors to complete all necessary preparations ranging from product designing, packaging to lodging and travelling arrangements.
