A Malaysian University has named its research institute after eminent Pakistani scientist Professor Dr Atta-ur-Rehman. An official of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, said on Sunday that the largest university in Malaysia "Universiti Teknologi Mara" has named the Research Institute of Natural Products after Professor Atta-ur-Rahman.
It will now be called "Professor Atta-ur-Rahman Institute for Natural Product Chemistry."
Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar, informed Professor Atta-ur-Rahman that this honour had been conferred in recognition of his vast contributions to the scientific world, particularly in the field of natural products and biological sciences.
This is a singular honour for Pakistan, the official of the HEC remarked.
Seventy seven students have completed their Ph.D. degrees under his supervision.
