Sheikh Zayed Hospital chairman not to be granted extension: SC assured
ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Chief Secretary Wednesday assured the Supreme Court that Sheikh Zayed Hospital Chairman Farid Khan would not be granted extension in his tenure.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the application of Dr Muzammil Tahir, General Secretary of Medical Teachers Association, and Dr Nasir Din, General Secretary of Allied Health Organization of Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore, challenging the proposed extension in the tenure of its chairman.
The petitioner's counsel apprised the court that incumbent chairman Farid Khan was appointed in violation of rules and his tenure was now being extended by the government.
The Additional Advocate General informed the court that the chairman’s contract would end on April 10 and the hospital's board of governors had asked him to continue working till the appointment of new one.
The chief justice remarked that there were a lot of complaints against Farid Khan.
The chief secretary assured the court that extension would not be granted to the incumbent chairman. The court, however, sought an affidavit from the chief secretary and law secretary in that regard and directed them to give the hospital’s charge to the senior most person.
