Arrangements for heat wave reviewed

Acute hot weather expected during the month of Ramzan this time, therefore full and comprehensive arrangements should be made in all the hospitals and clinics with the installation of dispensers for providing filtered drinking water at the public points.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting at his office here on Monday, said a statement.

DMC East Chairman Moeed Anwer, Vice Chairman of DMC Korangi Syed Ahmer Ali, City Council Parliamentary leader Aslam Shah Afridi, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Asghar Abbas, Chairperson Medical Committee Naheed Fatima, Sr. Director Coordination Masood Alam, Municipal Commissioner East Akhtar Shaikh, Sr. Director Medical Services dr. Beerbal, vice of Karachi head Aamir Ghanchi and other officers attended the meeting.

The Mayor said learning from the past experiences such arrangements and precautionary measures should be made that could save precious lives during heat wave in the city.

He also appealed to the K-electric to avoid load shedding during hot weather.

He said the persons infected with heat stroke should be immediately taken to the special wards established in the KMC

hospitals for providing the first aid to the patients.

He urged the officers to create more awareness among people about heat stroke and precautionary measures for this. He said the director City Warden has been nominated as focal person for coordination with all civic organization in this connection and the met departments will also be contacted on daily basis.

The Mayor said he will pay frequent visits to all the heat stroke management centers to check the arrangements there and to ensure availability of all required facilities in these centers.

On this occasion the head of the Voice of Karachi Aamir Ghanchi said water coolers will be installed in all districts of Karachi and efforts will be made to provide relief to maximum number of people at public places.

He said water coolers should be installed at all the shopping centers and the courts and passport offices.
