Since the beginning of summers, the City of Lights has been facing power outages and is expected to face prolonged load-shedding even in later months, including Ramazan.

The K-Electric (KE) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) continue to play the blame game, while the citizens keep suffering. Addressing a press conference, KE Communications Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Director Sadia Dada hinted that Karachi will suffer from load-shedding in Ramazan, local media reported.

Karachi faced a rise in the temperature mid-March and with that started the constant load-shedding. While the citizens have been suffering, neither the Sui Gas company nor the power utility are ready to take the responsibility of the excessive power cuts.

In their defense, the KE issued a press release, blaming the cause of prolonged load-shedding to low gas supply from SSGC. The release stated that KE is currently receiving gas supply at approximately 90mmcfd as opposed to Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) allocated 276mmcfd and below the supply levels of this time last year.

SSGC immediately replied to their claim terming the statement misleading. Both the companies have even taken the war to Twitter.

On Twitter K-Electric has uploaded a picture with the hashtag #RealGasStory#.

Meanwhile, people frustrated from the load-shedding as well as the hot weather from different areas have taken to twitter to complain about it.
