LHC summons Home Secretary Punjab on petition against LHWs' sit-in
LAHORE: A Lahore High Court full bench on Friday summoned Home Secretary Punjab for April 2 on a petition against lady health workers (LHWs) sit-in on The Mall.
The court also sought explanation for allowing the lady health workers to stage sit-in on The Mall despite a ban.
The bench headed by Justice Aminud Din Khan passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by one Abdullah Malik.
Earlier, petitioner's counsel Muhammad Azhar Siddique questioning the sit-in submitted that it was causing problems to the masses. He submitted that already there was a ban on holding protest on The Mall but despite the ban, the lady health workers continued to hold sit-in for consecutive five days. He pleaded with the court to issue directions for stopping the protest on The Mall besides directions for resolving issues of the lady health workers.
The bench after recording initial arguments summoned the secretary for April 2 and sought explanation.
