Providing basic facilities is government's responsibility: Ombudsman

QUETTA: Balochistan Ombudsman Ali Abdul Ghani Khilji on Wednesday said that provision of basic facilities to citizens was prime responsibility of the government as it was their basic right.

While addressing the complainants at open court held at District Assembly Hall in Nasirabad district, he said that government employees were getting salaries from public taxes, so they should serve the citizens.

He said that because of increasing number of public issues, he was visiting all districts of the province, listening to the people, receiving their complaints and trying to resolve their problems on immediate basis.

Deputy Commissioner Nasirabad Mohammad Yasir Khan Bazai, SSP Nasirabad Mir Hussain Lehri, ADC Badal Khan Dashti, Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Hussein Bhangar and officers of all other government departments were also present on the occasion.

He said that the purpose of holding the open courts at district level was to solve people’s problems at their doorsteps.

He said that every citizen should be aware of his rights and raise his voice against evil socials prevailing in the society, having negative impact on their future.

While talking to media at district jail, he said that there was a need to bring special reforms in the fields of education and health on the basis of which doctors, paramedics and teachers would be bound to ensure full attendance at district hospitals and schools.

Deputy Commissioner Nasirabad Dr. Yasir Khan Bazai while addressing the complainants said that resolving public issues in accordance with legal proceedings was the duty of government employees and a continuous public support and cooperation was needed in that regard.

He said masses could contact him and the SSP Nasirabad directly in case of any emergency. Both of them had been appointed to serve the people, he added.

The ombudsman also visited the district jail, government girls and boys schools and district civil hospital.
