Calling it the largest private investment in Greece, the airline said the planes would allow it to offer new services to passengers and add destinations, as well as provide cost savings.

"With the investment in new generation Airbus A320neo aircraft, we strengthen our competitiveness and provide a platform that empowers our people to further improve service to our passengers," the airline's vice chairman, Eftichios Vassilakis, said in a statement.

The agreement includes the firm order of 30 aircraft of the A320neo family aircraft, with at least 10 of the larger A321neo, plus options for another 12 planes.
