Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Farooq Sattar challenged on Wednesday Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision in removing him as the convener of the party.

Sattar filed a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC), which will take up the petition on Thursday (tomorrow), according to local media reports.

Announcing its verdict on Monday, the ECP removed Sattar as convener of MQM-P. The ECP had also dismissed Sattar’s application challenging the commission’s jurisdiction to decide the party’s convener-ship.

Farooq Sattar believes ECP’s decision is a conspiracy to finish MQM-P

A day ago, during a press conference Sattar had asserted that ECP’s decision against him was a conspiracy to finish the party. He said the decision was made against him because he had saved the party from disintegrating back in August 23.

Earlier on February 18, Rabita Committee filed a petition in which it had challenged the intra-party elections held. The Bahadurabad faction had termed the intra-party elections as illegal, in which Sattar was elected as the party chief.

Whereas, Faisal Sabzwari from the Rabita Committee, addressing a news conference the same day, said that they invite Sattar to join them and lead MQM-P together.
