Chairman Nadra, Tariq Malik was bestowed with the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz by His Excellency, President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, for outstanding achievement in Information Technology. The youngest chairman to receive the national award, Malik is truly a source of inspiration for other public servants to emulate.
After being posted as Deputy Chairman, Nadra in 2008 by Nadra Authority Board, he was appointed as Chairman Nadra in 2012 by the Prime Minister of Pakistan in recognition of his services to the state and its people. In order to promote good governance in Nadra, Tariq Malik completely restructured the organisation.
He invented technical methodology of cross functional data mining for Bait-ul-Maal - an activity that resulted in revelation of Rs 3.2 billion of misappropriations of Zakat funds that had, prior to 2008, been going towards non-deserving beneficiaries. He has been instrumental in weeding out illegal aliens residing in homeland through a technical cross-match of data held with both authorities (NARA - Nadra), thus consolidating National Security.-PR
