National flag hoisted at Pakistan House to mark Pakistan day in N.Y.

The ceremony began with recitation of the holy Quran, and as Pakistani Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi hoisted the green-crescent-and-star, the national anthem was played.

Ambassador Lodhi then read out the Pakistan Day message of President Mamnoon Hussain and Raja Ali Ejaz, Consul General, New York, read out the message of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Lodhi highlighted the importance of the Lahore Resolution which led to the establishment of Pakistan. She paid tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and the sacrifices made by the Muslims of the sub-continent for the freedom movement.

Pakistan, she said, has come a long way since our founding fathers established an independent and sovereign state for the Muslims of South Asia.

We are determined to translate our Quaids vision into reality and ensure that people get justice and are able to enjoy the fruits of development, she added.

Consul General Ejaz recalled the services and sacrifices rendered by the founding fathers for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of India.

The ceremony concluded with a dua for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan.

Officers and staff of the Mission, the Consulate General and Pakistanis working for the United Nations attended the ceremony. Members of Pakistans armed forces serving as UN peacekeepers also joined the ceremony.
