Sherry Rehman becomes first female opposition leader in Senate

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in Senate, becoming the first woman to lead the opposition.

A notification was issued by the Senate Secretariat in this regard. Rehman will be the first woman to lead the opposition party in the Senate. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had nominated Rehman on March 14.

Rehman has served as Pakistan’s ambassador to United States during PPP’s tenure. She had also served as a Senator and federal minister for information and broadcasting.
