Construction of stadium at Shakarparian: SC adjourns hearing for three weeks
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a case regarding construction of a cricket stadium at Shakarparian, Islamabad, for three weeks.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, the chief justice asked whether the cricket stadium was being constructed at Shakarparian.
Upon this, petitioner former secretary interior Roedad Khan replied that the government wanted to construct a five-star hotel and a cricket stadium at Shakarparian.
The court removed objections on Roedad Khan's constitutional petition and stayed the construction of stadium till decision of the case.
Later, the court directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other departments concerned to submit a report and adjourned the hearing.
