5670 children not to be immunized during polio drive
HYDERABAD: As many as 5,670 children of under 5 years of age could not be immunized in Hyderabad district because their parents refused the polio teams from administering the drops.
According to the statistics shared by a health official here on Saturday, the actual number of refusal cases which surfaced after March 12 to 15 polio drive stood at 10,227. However, the polio teams and the district administration succeeded in persuading parents of over 4,300 children who were immunized a day after the campaign ended.
The number of refusal cases in Hyderabad's City taluka decreased to 2,159 from 4,220, in Latifabad taluka to 2,431 from 3,975, in Qasimabad taluka to 878 from 1,348 and in Hyderabad Rural taluka to 202 from 684.The campaign had targeted immunization of 333,946 children in the district.
