INDIAN WELLS: World No. 19 Daria Kasatkina defeated two-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber 6-0, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the WTA Indian Wells tournament on Thursday.

The 20-year-old Russian improves to 12-6 on the season and now holds a 3-2 edge over former world number one Kerber in head-to-head matches since their first meeting in 2016 in Montreal.

For the first time in three appearances in Indian Wells Kasatkina advances to the semis where she will face either seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams or Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain.
