ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday rejected petitions to initiate contempt cases against Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and others.

The three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the cases filed by petitioner Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi.

During the hearing, the petitioner stated that after the apex court's verdict to disqualify him, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif started carrying out political rallies and disrespecting the courts.

However, the court rejected the petition, along with other cases filed by Naqvi against Daniyal Aziz, Talal Chaudhry, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Nayyer Bhukari, Firdous Ashiq Awan and Yousuf Raza Gilani.
