Pakistan Army has successfully test-fired the extended-range version of its Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation and state-of-the-art avionics, enabling it to engage targets with high precision.

The ISPR said the missile’s unique trajectory and manoeuvrability features enable it to defeat enemy missile defence systems, while its extended range further enhances the army’s capability to engage targets deep inside enemy territory.

The test was witnessed by the Commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, senior Pakistan Army officers, and scientists and engineers involved in the programme.

The commander appreciated the dedication and technical expertise of the scientists and engineers, the statement added.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test launch.

Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the nation on the test, describing it as a significant development in the country’s defence sector.

He said Pakistan Army scientists and engineers had achieved a commendable feat.
