Buying returned at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining over 600 points during the opening minutes of trading on Tuesday.

At 9:48am, the benchmark index was hovering at 166,521.38, up 654.07 points or 0.39%.

Buying was observed in key sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, OMCs, power generation and refinery. Index-heavy stocks, including ARL, HUBCO, OGDC, PPL, POL, HBL, NBP and UBL, traded in the green.

On Monday, heightened regional and domestic political uncertainty, coupled with elevated international crude oil prices, triggered broad-based risk aversion at the PSX, sending the market into a nosedive as selling pressure intensified across major sectors. The benchmark KSE-100 Index plunged 2,288.17 points, or 1.36%, to settle at 165,867.32 points.
