NBP President Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure expires

Rehmat Ali Hasnie's tenure as President and CEO of National Bank of Pakistan has expired, following a recent two-week extension and earlier proposals for a permanent role.

The tenure of Rehmat Ali Hasnie as President and chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Bank of Pakistan, one of Pakistan’s largest commercial banks, expired on Friday.
The listed bank disclosed the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today.
“We wish to inform you that Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure as President of NBP has expired as of today, i.e. August 21, 2026,” read the notice.
Earlier this month, the government reappointed Hasnie as NBP’s President and CEO for an additional two weeks.
In July 2023, the Finance Division proposed Hasnie’s name to the federal cabinet as the principal candidate for the permanent post of President/CEO of NBP for a period of three years.
The government officially appointed him as the President of NBP in August 2023.
The banker has been with NBP since 2010 and has headed investment banking, corporate banking and priority sector lending.
Hasnie has over 25 years of work experience in economics research, capital markets, investment banking, treasury and credit markets at various institutions in Pakistan.
He is a financial markets professional with an MA Degree in Development Banking from The American University (USA).
